Anson Dickinson letters, 1797-1851.

Letters sent to Anson Dickinson, an artist who was born in Milton, Connecticut. He died in Litchfield, Connecticut. One of the letters mentions an engraving of General George Washington that Dickinson was about to publish. There are also several letters of introduction. Dickinson was primarily a miniature painter, and some of his work is held by the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The collection also contains a letter notifying Dickinson of his election to the American Academy of the Arts in New York.
